Saddles and Choices
There is no doubt that there is a lot of discussion of various cycling forums about the types of bicycle saddles people use. Although some people like to try to influence the decisions of others, and that may be purely an innocent attempt to help the other person out, the following responses to the question of what the best saddle is are what I consider to be the most helpful.
By the way, the following responses came after one person asked about the Fizik Arione and the Antares and wondered if others could share their experiences with them.
“They’re totally different design concepts. You need to just decide – anyone here’s opinion is worthless. Unless you’re just asking if they’re good quality, the answer is yes to both. “
“The thing with saddles though is that its a very personal thing. Some folks just ride/sit differently and some folks might hate the Antares. It works well for me. I have about 5 years of riding on the old bum so I feel confident in saying my sitbones are well broken in.”
“My suggestion to you is to ask if the shop will let you buy one and “test ride” it for a week or so. And if you don’t like it can you exchange it for the other one. That way they still get your sale and you get a saddle you are comfortable with. Win-win situation.”
“You have to try them out. Each is designed for different bodies. My Arione VS is great and I do many 100-200 mile rides. That said, you may hate them both.”
A New Fall-Away Rest From Ripcord
The choices in arrow rests, particularly in fall-away arrow rests, continue to widen and companies are bringing out stronger, more reliable products all the time. This is the case with the new – for 2011 – arrow rest from Ripcord called the Ripcord Code Red Fall Away Arrow Rest.
It is obvious that the effort has been put in to ensure the arrow rest is more durable than other models with the machined aluminium components making it undeniably strong. Ripcord has also given thought to the look of the rest with the rounded and contoured edges providing a modern and sleek appearance. It’s the sort of arrow rest that will integrate very nicely with the look of the latest compound bows.
Features of the arrow rest include: Ripcord’s exclusive arrow containment system to ensure the arrow is kept in place; a new internal brake has been added to the arrow rest to prevent the launcher from bouncing back after it drops away; an extremely powerful spring to ensure it falls away in record time reducing the chance of bow torque and this makes it just that little bit more forgiving; an internal damper to eliminate noise.
With all of these features it adds up that the Code Red is an extremely quiet and powerful arrow rest that will suit the newer archer.
